- Smoking costs the United States over $167 billion each year in health-care costs including $92 billion in mortality-related productivity loses and $75.5 billion in excess medical expenditures

- Every year, close to 342,000 Americans die of lung disease. Lung disease is America's number three killer, responsible for one in seven deaths

- Smoking is responsible for approximately one in five deaths in the United States This includes an estimated 259,494 male and 178,408 female deaths annually
