Why Willpower Isn't Enough

You aren't fighting a lack of discipline. You are fighting a neurological loop. Here is how we break it.

The Battle Between Your Two Minds

To understand why you haven't been able to quit smoking, lose weight, or break that anxiety loop, you must understand the architecture of your mind.


You have two parts:

  1. The Conscious Mind (10%): This is where your logic, willpower, and short-term memory live. It wants to change. It knows smoking is bad.
  2. The Subconscious Mind (90%): This is your autopilot. It controls your habits, emotions, and autonomic nervous system. It fears change. It believes the habit is keeping you safe or comfortable.


The Problem: Between these two parts lies a filter called the "Critical Factor." When you try to use willpower ("I won't smoke today"), the Critical Factor rejects the new thought because it conflicts with the old programming.

This is why you can "white knuckle" it for a few days, but eventually, the Subconscious wins. It always wins.

Bypassing the Critical Factor (Hypnosis)

Hypnosis is not "mind control." It is simply a state of focused relaxation that allows us to bypass the Critical Factor and speak directly to the Subconscious.


In this state, your mind becomes highly receptive to new information. We don't "force" you to change; we present your Subconscious with a better option. We update the software.

  • For Smokers: We reframe nicotine from a "friend" to a "poison."
  • For Weight Loss: We shift the association of food from "comfort" to "fuel."
  • For Executives: We delete the "Imposter Syndrome" file and upload confidence.

Interrupting the Physical Loop (Neurological Tapping)

Most hypnotherapists stop at the mind. The Guzzo Protocol goes further.

We know that addiction and trauma are also stored in the body—in the nervous system itself. That is why you feel physical cravings or a tight chest when you are stressed.
